Nga Tuahine toko whitu II
This stunning piece was exhibited in the 2013 Matariki exhibition at Toi Gallery. ‘Nga Tuahine toko whitu II’ translates as ‘The Seven sisters II’ and is a sequel to the ‘Seven Sisters’ piece Forde had in the previous year’s Matariki exhibition. The Koru represent the Matariki star constellation. This piece could either be installed outside or in, and is carved from seven jarrah railway sleepers. It sold the day after opening for $5,800.
